Welcome to Mute Meister!

As the MuteMeister, I performed countless restorations on vintage mutes. Before curtailing those activities in 2016, I spent literally thousands of hours restoring about every make and model of mute ever manufactured. This taught me much regarding the subject of brass instrument mutes. Thus, when I finally made the decision to operate as a mute designer, a new set of brass instrument mutes emerged. Manufactured by Warburton Music Products, we now present the new MuteMeister line.

Going with Terry Warburton and Warburton Music Products was, without question, the right direction for MuteMeister with regard to research and development, manufacturing and marketing. In addition to Terry's experience with creating his own line of mouthpieces, trumpets, and "Woody Mutes," he demonstrates versatility as an inventor of products for a variety of musical instruments. With our new endeavor, along with his dedicated work ethic, it also helps that Terry and I have been friends for over 40 years.

The first in our line of mutes is the "Cup Mute". This mute brings together the best acoustic qualities from both the 1930s Ray Robinson cup mute and the 1940s Shastock Tonalcolor cup mute.

Our second offering is the new "ShowTone" mute, which is a significant improvement over the classic Shastock Solotone mute in both construction and resonance. This mute is very sought after by trumpet players who do a great deal of work in the pit orchestras of Broadway and West End Show productions.

Our third mute is the new "Straight" mute. This mute is a great choice when non-metal straight mutes are preferred. Unlike many straight mutes available today, the MuteMeister Straight mute has a wooden resonator.
